Abstract

Dong Mo reservoir in Vinh Phuc province was built with the purpose of supplying for irrigation and domestic uses in communes of Dao Tru, Bo Ly, Yen Duong of Tam Dao district. In the process of operation and exploitation, there may be unforeseen natural disasters such as: large flood flow to the reservoir beyond the design, generating construction failure incidents, single broken dams or combination of dams… Therefore, a scientific basis needed for developing plans to ensure safe operation of reservoirs and emergency response when incidents occur, especially in situations of emergency dams or flood discharge. It is necessary to research and assess the impact of reservoir on downstream and surrounding areas. The paper presents a number of specific results on the calculation and simulation of scenarios of Dong Mo dam breach, thus aims to build a map of flood level and risk zone.
