Abstract
Nowadays, in line with the development of science and technology, many civil works were built using advanced technologies in Vietnam. Among them, dams are important infrastructure in the fields of water resources and hydro-power. Building materials and technologies have a significant role in dam construction. This paper summaries some technologies and materials that were recently applied for dam construction as well as proposes a new dam construction method that is applicable for Vietnam namely 'rock dam technology filled with self-compacting concrete'
