Abstract

After the Cold War, India-Russia relations have evolved with new nuances under the influence of many objective and subjective factors. Based on historical, logical, and geo-political analysis methods, the article clarifies one of the important factors that had a continuous, thorough and profound impact on India-Russia relations from 1991 to 1999, namelythe United States factor. With its position as the world’s number one superpower, the United States has shown itself to be an important player in India-Russia relations. The research results show that through each historical moment, the impact of the United States factor on India-Russia relations was two-sided, both hindering their relationship andpromoting them to stick together. That is a specific expression of the thinking of national interests, especially the national interests of major countries, and the multi-dimensional and mutually dominant influence of the world political situation after the Cold War.
