TRANSPORT SYSTEM OF LANG SON PROVINCE FROM 1897 TO 1945

Abstract

From 1897 to 1945, to serve governance, military and economic purposes, the French colonialists invested in building and developing the transportation system in Vietnam. In that context, what is transport system of Lang Son like and what impact does it have on the locality and region? Through archival documents and other documents, based on historical methods, logical methods, synthesis and analysis methods, the article will clarify the formation, development and impact of Lang Son’s transport system in the period from 1897 to 1945. Research results show that during this period, the French colonialists renovated, built and expanded the Lang Son transportation system to rule, exploit and exploit resources in Vietnam in general, and in Lang Son and neighboring provinces in particular. The transportation system in Lang Son province impacts both positively and negatively on all aspects of the locality and region. Research results are a source of reference materials for teaching and researching history, especially researching and teaching local history.
