Abstract

Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles has received great attention in nanotechnology due to their antibacterial and biomedical applications. Among metal nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have received special attention because of their unique properties, such as low toxicity, high yield, low cost, environmental friendliness, and availability. In this study, we present a simple and environmentally friendly method for synthesizing AgNPs through the reduction of Ag+ ions using Artocarpus heterophyllus shoots extract. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. The effects of pH, temperature, reaction time, plant extract, as well as silver nitrate (AgNO3) concentration on the spectral properties during the green synthesis of AgNPs will also be presented. The prepared AgNPs exhibited high antibacterial ability against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus bacteria.
