ANALYSIS OF SOME KOREAN TRANSLATION ERRORS OF THE FOURTH YEAR STUDENTS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL - THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This study aims to survey and analyze translation errors in the process of learning Korean Interpretation of fourth-year students at Foreign Language School - Thai Nguyen University. Research subjects include 78 students studying Korean at the school. Data collection tools were based on the Korean Interpretation 1 module in the training program, learning results, tests, language practice skills in the learning and training process of students in the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. Research results show that most students often encountered errors in translation content and translation skills. Their common errors in translation content included grammar errors, word choice errors, style, pragmatics... In particular, word-to-word translation errors accounted for the highest rate of 75.6%, and most students made mistakes in their translation skills. This study is a useful reference resource for teachers and students studying Korean. From the analysis results, the authors make suggestions to help teachers and students improve the quality of teaching and learning in Korean translation lessons in the next semesters.
