RESEARCH ON EFFECTS OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATOR TO PROPAGATE DENDRO WHITE WILLOW ORCHIDS
Abstract
Dendro White willow orchid (Dendrobium mesangnil) is great attracted due to its beautiful flower color and fragrance. That is why this plant is currently one of the most popular trading in the market. In research on breeding Dendro White willow orchids, the material used for the study is the young shoots with the size of 3 - 4 cm, which are separated from the apical bud and then transferred to the culture medium for rapid multiplication. The goal of this study is to rapidly propagate the Dendro White willow orchid through the PLBs stage, thereby promoting the propagation process to produce seedlings with large quantity and uniform quality to supply to the market. Our result found that, the suitable medium for creating PLBs is MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/L BA combined with 0.5 mg/L NAA for samples with good proliferation of PLBs, hard-formed PLBs. The shoots regenerated and grew well on ½ MS medium with a shoot height of 5.57 cm, open leaves reaching high, creating many roots.
