Abstract

Dacrycarpus imbricatus (Blume) de Laub., which is a large tree up to 35m, is widely distributed in some provinces of Vietnam. The essential oils from the twigs with leaves of the Dacrycarpus imbricatus was collected in Moc Chau Nature Reserve, Son La province and was obtained by steam distillation and the yield of essential oils was 0.025% from air-dry material. The essential oil is light yellow color and lighter than water. By using GC/MSD analysis, there are 52 constituents from leaves and twigs were identified and accounting for 95.25% of essential oil.  The main constituents were 3-methyl-valeric acid (6.09%), β-caryophyllene (5.51%), Germacrene D (39.35%), bicyclogermacrene (4.89%), T- muurolol (4.22%). This is the first study on the chemical constituents of essential oils from the twigs with leaves of Dacrycarpus imbricatus in Vietnam.
