Abstract

From 1975 to 1986, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam's foreign activities gained important achievements, contributing to firmly defending national independence. However, besides the successes, we also made mistakes and limitations, making the country besieged and isolated as well as the socio-economic crisis. Stemming from the reality of the country, the Communist Party of Vietnam adjusted foreign policy and guidelines to suit the situation in the country and the world. The article focuses on clarifying the process of the Communist Party of Vietnam's leadership in foreign affairs from 1975 to 1986. By using historical, logical, analytical, and comparative research methods, the article clarified the guidelines and process of the Communist Party of Vietnam in directing foreign affairs from 1975 to 1986 with historical achievements, limitations and experiences drawn in the leadership process. Those historical experiences have great significance and application value in the reality of the Party's leadership in foreign affairs in the current period.
