THE IMPACT OF LEARNING MOTIVATION ON SELF ABILITY OF STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITIES IN DA NANG CITY

Abstract

Self-study plays a major role for university students, especially in the context of complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, students transitioning from face – to – face learning method to online learning method. However, the self – study ability’s university students is still limited. Many studies have demonstrated the relationship between learning motivation and self – study ability but have not clarified the role of each type of learning motivation. This study aims to confirm the impact of learning motivation on students' self – study ability through survey results of 472 students at 08 universities in Da Nang city. In addition, the study has determined the impact level of 04 groups of learning motivation, the level of impact decreases as follows: (1) Motivation for self-affirmation; (2) Career motivation; (3) Social motives; (4) Cognitive  – science motivation. Through the analysis results, the study has proposed some orientations to improve learning motivation, thereby improving students' self-study ability.
