STRENGTHENING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DIRECT DEMOCRACY IN VIETNAMESE UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

Direct democracy is the main form for the people to participate in managing country and society. A public university is a special type of institution, where the educational level is very high. Therefore, the requirements for direct democracy in public university are even more important. Based on the methodology of Marxism - Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, methods of analysis along with synthesis, comparison, generalization, abstraction, this paper has clarified the main contents of direct democracy; the method of implementing direct democracy in Vietnamese public universities through the principle "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit" and raises the problems of implementing direct democracy. It includes 5 main groups of issues: issues related to "people know", issues related to "people discuss", issues related to "people do", issues related to "people inspect, people supervise" and issues related to "people benefit". On that basis, this paper has proposed 5 groups of basic solutions to improve the effectiveness of direct democracy implementation in Vietnamese universities.
