ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFICIENCY OF AGRICULTURAL LAND USE IN SOME COMMUNES IN THE WEST OF THAI NGUYEN CITY

Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the efficiency of agricultural land use in agriculture production (economic, social and environmental efficiency) in three communes: Thinh Duc, Phuc Triu and Tan Cuong in the western region of Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province. The data collection method was used  for having information of land use efficiency. The results indicated that there were 7 land use types (LUTs) with 21 sub-LUTs in the research area. The sub - LUTs of rice crop and 1 rice –1 annual crop had low efficiency. The sub - LUTs of annual crop, 2 rice crops - 1 annual crop and tea had high efficiency. Therefore, the types of agricultural land use such as annual crop, 2 rice crops - 1 annual crop and tea were recommended to expand markets of agricultural production, create more income for local people and orient land use in the future.
