Abstract

The paper presents professional standards for teachers of some countries in the world and trends in using standards in training, using and evaluating teachers. The paper also mentions professional competency models and new functions of teachers in the context of renovating the general education curriculum. The paper uses the desk research method and the expert method. The general issues in the paper are analyzed through the process of researching and evaluating teacher professional standards and teacher training models of some countries in the world such as Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Germany. From there, propose a standard-oriented teacher education model, contributing to improving the quality of training and fostering the teaching staff in Vietnam.
