A WRITING OF THE UNIVERSITY TEXTBOOK FOR THE LITERARY HISTORY IN CONTEMPORARY TIME
Abstract
The writing of the new university textbook for the literary history of Việt Nam raises the question of such a shift in the literatures of a valuable resource of a particular kind such of France. We proceed to analyze the two university textbooks, one by G. Lanson (1894) and the other by a group of university professors (2006). The article notes that the new French textbook continues to include Lansonist objectivism and takes advantage of the theoretical fruits of twentieth century literary research with the strengths: 1/ abandoning the author as the elementary unit in favor of themes; 2/ valuing not only creative poetics, but also the aesthetic of reception and literary sociology; 3/ without falling into the literary panorama like that of Lanson’s. As a result, in our opinion, a new textbook of literary history should include scientific objectivism and the mentality of openness to theoretical perspective.
