THE EVFTA: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FROM THE VIEW OF WOOD-BASED INDUSTRY ENTERPRISES

Abstract

The European Union Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has opened up many opportunities and challenges for the Vietnamese economy in general and the wood industry in particular. However, the perception of opportunities and challenges for wood-based industry enterprises is curently various. Therefore, conducting research on different approaches is needed. This paper aims to answer the research question: What opportunities and challenges do wood-based industry enterprises recognize from the EVFTA? A qualitative research was conducted with 34 interviewees from 05 enterprises. The results show that perception of opportunities and challenges of enterprises varies greatly depending on their size, business model and vision on their future. However, as generlisation is limited in qualitative research, we suggest other researchers to expand the research topic to a larger sample size which can give a more comprehensive statement about the opportunites and challenges of enterprises in wood industry.
