EVALUATING CURRENT STATUS AND PROPOSING SOLUTIONS FOR DOMESTIC SOLID WASTES MANAGEMENT IN BACNINH PROVINCE

Abstract

The study was conducted in BacNinh province. The research results show that the total amount of domestic solid waste (DSW) in BacNinh province is 870 tons/day, the management of domestic solid waste in Bac Ninh has achieved quite good results. However, the amount of MSW generated is not yet fully solved, namely: The classification of DSW at source has been piloted in both urban and rural areas, but the efficiency is not high, there are still many limitations; Collection rate of DSW is over 90%; The whole province has 3 centralized waste treatment areas and 10 small capacity domestic solid waste incinerators; The treatment rate of DSW is about 64%; Many localities do not have waste incinerators and waste treatment plants, so the amount of waste remaining at the waste gathering places is quite large (about 150,000 tons), losing the beauty and affecting the environmental quality in the region. The study also proposed solutions to improve the efficiency of DSW management in BacNinh province, contributing to environmental protection and human health.
