ETHNIC MINORITIES CHILDREN'S NURSERY RHYMES AND GAME IN CURRENT LIFE

Abstract

The children’s songs and traditional children’s games originate from minority groups who live in the Northern mountainous area, the central region, highland, and Southern Delta. The records of these songs and games have been published and become valuable documents for the study of literary and national cultural heritages. In this study, we will conduct a survey on the current circumstance of the children’s song and traditional children’s games in several minority groups of Northern mountainous region. This survey is conducted under two forms, including answering questionnaires and organizing the games contained children ‘s songs. Our findings indicate that the children’ songs and traditional children’s games are diverse; however, they still share some popular traits. Though these songs and games still appear in their lives, the limitation in games’ organization and added modern games lead to reduce the practices of traditional songs and games. Thus, it is crucial to record, synthesis, and reintroduce these songs and games which are at risk of disappearing.
