This study was conducted to assess the current state of land resources around the mining area at Trai Cau Mine. We aimed to analyze people's feedback on exploitation issues, soil pollution and soil relatted issues around the mining areas. The methodology includes the study of secondary documents, interviews using survey forms, soil sampling and analysis of some chemical indicators including: pH, Pb, Zn, As, and Cd. The results indicated that soil in the study area is acidic (pH from 5.1 to 6.4); soil samples contain some heavy metal contamination such as Pb, Zn, and As exceeded the permitted standards of Vietnam (QCVN) for industrial land while, the metals target in residential land samples are in the permitted standards of Vietnam (QCVN). A majority of 50 respondents indicated mining activities are the main cause of soil issues and lead to the negative effects on environment including soil erosion, land subsidence, environmental and noise pollution, and traffic disturbance.
