Abstract

In this study, the total contents of copper, lead, cadmium and zinc in 15 Verbesina calendulacea L.  samples collected at different locations in the Northern provinces of Vietnam were determined by ICP-MS. The results of the standard addition method showed that the recovery of the method for copper, lead, cadmium and zinc metals ranged from 82.19% to 109.65%. The concentrations of copper, lead, cadmium and zinc in the 15 analyzed plant samples ranged 5.510 ¸ 21.620 mg/kg, 0.481¸1.628 mg/kg, 0.125 ¸ 0.340 mg/kg, 14.370 ¸ 36.830 mg/kg, respectively. The results of the study showed that almost of the contents of copper, lead, cadmium and zinc in the 15 analyzed plant samples were lower than the permissible limit set by World Health Organization (WHO) for medicinal herbs.
