COMPOSITION OF SPECIES ARE USED TO MAKING WINE YEAST BY LA HA ETHNIC MINORITY PEOPLE, IN MUONG LA DISTRICT, SON LA PROVINCE

Abstract

Muong La is a mountainous district of Son La province. It is about 42 kilometers from Son La city This is a natural land area of 142,924 ha, and has typical climate of the northwestern mountainous region. This district has La Ha ethnic minorities with 4,430 people (accounting for 4.53%) on total of the district's population. In order to to enrich the treasure of knowledge about wine yeast and experiences of using plants to make wine yeast of ethnic minority communities. The reasearch was conducted in La Ha ethnic community in Muong La district. The results recorded 81 species of plants making wine yeast  belonging to 66 genera, 43 families in the Orchid branches. Parts are used to making wine yeast various include leaves, stems, tubers, whole plants; fruits and roots and shells. This area is the most species to make yeast is the Lamiaceae family with 7 species. There are 18/43 families of plants with plants containing essential oils for making wine yeast. The most life form commonly is used  herbaceous, with 33 species, next to climbing plants with 13 species and the lowest is low shrub with 3 species. The distribution of plants species to making wine yeast on the habitat of secondary forests is highest with 41 species (accounting for 50.62%), next is the home garden with 35 species (accounting for 43.21%); in burnt-over land with 28 species (accounting for 34.57%); lowest is stream bank with 8 species (accounting for 9.88%). There are 6 species to make wine yeast  (7.41%) that have been identified in the risk of being listed in the Vietnam Red Book (2007). These species are with a little bit of individuals that need to have policies for conservation and development.
