TEACHING PROBLEM SOLVING BY SETTING UP EQUATIONS AND SYSTEM OF EQUATIONS WITH MODELING METHOD

Abstract

An important feature of the school mathematics curriculum in 2018 is to strengthen the application of mathematics into real life. The paper presents the approach from modeling method in teaching problem solving by setting up equations and system of equations at the lower secondary school. The research results have proposed the process of applying modeling method in teaching and some pedagogical measures to develop modeling capacity for students. Teaching experiment results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed measures, thereby contributing to innovating teaching methods based on students’ capacity development orientations.
