STEM EDUCATION IN NEW TEACHING MODULE AT HIGH SCHOOL STEM

Abstract

STEM is believed as a new approach in education and training human resources in the future, which emphasizes the group of these four academic disciplines Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM education has attracted the attention of many countries and has also been integrated into standard curriculums as well as extracurricular activities in secondary and high schools there. STEM education is believed to meet the requirements of ability development education which is also the strategy of the new Vietnam’s textbooks series. The article aims at analyzing the requirements of STEM education in the new Vietnam’s textbooks series, focusing on understanding the general features of the standard curriculums for the secondary and high schools as the whole, the content of the subjects enacted in December 2018 by Ministry of Education and Training, and the other related papers. Through the results collected in recent years from the reality of the training courses of Bachelor of Education in University of Education – Thai Nguyen University, STEM education is facing with not only challenges but also chances in the application to the real teaching process. Thereafter, recommendations and suggestions for the implementation of STEM education in the new textbooks series are proposed to emphasize the synchronization and the determination of Vietnam’s education.
