RESEARCH ON EFFECTS OF POTTING MEDIA ON GROWING JEWEL ORCHID (Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl.) IN THAI NGUYEN

Abstract

To determine the suitable growing medium for jewel orchid, the experiment was arranged in radommized complete block design RCBD with 3 replicates and conducted from January to June 2018 at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and  data was analyzed using IRRISTAT software. Data was collected from 5 independent formulas after 150 days showed that: The suitable growing medium for orchids was a combination of pine + coconut fiber + soil + animal manure with ratio of 7: 1: 1: 1, resulting in the hightest rate of survival plans (94.00%), the average plant height was 10.4 cm, with 7.7 leaves and 2.5 new branches. The average weight of 10 plants was 25.2 gr after 150 days planting.
