Abstract

The characteristics of species composition, life-forms as well as stratification of the secondary vegetation (short grass vegetation, shrub vegetation, secondary forest) in Ky Thuong commune (Hoanh Bo district, Quang Ninh province) have been reported to be quite abundant and diversity. In which shrub vegetation has been scored having the largest number of species (229 species), followed by secondary forest with 213 species and the lowest number belongs to short grass vegetation (44 species). Each of vegetation types has 5 life-form groups, of which the Phanerophytes (Ph) group dominates with the ratio from 43.18% - 90.6%, while the lowest ratio from 2.28% - 3.29% belongs to the Cryptophytes (Cr) group. Secondary forest has been observed having the most complex stratification with 4 layers included two layers of woody trees, one layer of shrub and one layer of fresh vegetation.  Shrub vegetation has 3 layers (woody tree layer, shrub layer and fresh vegetation). The simplest stratification has been observed in the short grass vegetation with only 2 layers, small shrub and grass.
