CURRENT STATUS OF HUMAN RESOURCE TRAINING IN STEM FIELDS: CASE STUDY AT THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The article presents the current status of human resource training in STEM fields in Vietnam, including illustrations of specific data at Thai Nguyen University. The authors used the method of researching secondary documents from the Ministry of Education and Training and Thai Nguyen University during the period from 2018 to 2022. The data were analyzed and compared with a number of countries and regions around the world such as Korea, Israel, Singapore, Finland, Germany and the European Union. Research results show that the proportion of students studying STEM fields in Vietnam is still low compared to developed countries in the world, especially the scale and proportion of students studying at postgraduate level. Case studies at Thai Nguyen University also show that some STEM fields are lacking learners. This has an impact on the socio-economic development strategy of localities and the whole country in the context of our country promoting the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The article also proposes some solutions to promote human resource training in STEM fields in Vietnam in the current context.
