Abstract

Educational quality accreditation in general and quality accreditation for higher education institutions is one of three popular quality assurance models applied by educational institutions today. The main purpose of educational quality accreditation is to improve academic quality and public accountability. Currently, the set of standards for accreditation of higher education quality in Vietnam is according to Circular 12/2017 of the Ministry of Education and Training. In response to the accreditation standards, the internal quality assurance system within the educational institution has the main role. Among quality assurance models for educational institutions, the application of the ISO 21001:2018 management system is being applied by many educational organizations. This is an international standard specifically for educational institutions. By comparing the standards and criteria in the above two sets of standards, the results show that more than 80% of the inspection criteria according to Circular 12/2017 of the Ministry of Education and Training are mentioned in ISO 21001:2018. Therefore, when universities apply ISO 21001 standards, it will create favorable conditions for the quality accreditation of higher education institutions or program quality accreditation.
