Abstract

A study on the morphological, anatomical and distribution of Psychotria adenophylla in the in Southern islands of Vietnam was carried out. Psychotria adenophylla has a glabrous stem, has a glabrous stem, simple leaves, leaves opposite-decussate, glabrous on both sides, domatia in the axils of major veins on the abaxial side of leaves. Raceme inflorescences, terminal, white flowers, black ripe fruits, seed albumin ruminate. Mircomophologically, the leaves have convex midribs on both sides, V-shaped vascular bundles, dorsal-ventral leaf blades, paracytic stomatal pores, and terete petioles with short wings on both sides. The stem are terete, with oval-shaped primary stem vascular bundles and secondary stems with thick xylem and small wood rays. Additionally, needle-shaped calcium oxalate crystals are scattered in the petioles and primary stems. Psychotria adenophylla is mainly distributed in evergreen forests, scrublands, and forest edges, at elevations ranging from 100-200m on the islands in the study area.
