INFLUENCE OF KOREAN CONFUCIANISM ON KOREAN CORPORATE CULTURE IN HO CHI MINH CITY: LOOKING FROM CULTURAL DIMENSIONS

Abstract

This article studies the influence of Confucianism on Korean corporate culture (compared with Vietnam) from two angles. Firstly, from the context in which Confucian influence in Korean corporate culture, including the context of the Confucian introduction to Korea and development as well as the context of business formation and development. Secondly, from the imprints of the Confucian influence on Korean corporate culture through six dimensions of Hofstede. The article comes to the conclusion that the socio-historical and economic contexts contribute to the determination of the manner and consequences of Confucian influence on the Hofstede dimensions, forming the basic features of Korean corporate culture. Through the comparative research, it can be seen quyte clearly that besides the similarities, the Korean socio-historical-economic context also has differences from that of Vietnam. Therefore, the dimensions of Korean corporate culture also show distinct characteristics compared to Vietnam. This study has scientific and practical significance, contributing to the promotion of Vietnam-Korea cooperation.
