INVESTIGATING THE ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF WORMWOOD EXTRACT FRACTIONS USING THE DPPH AND PFRAP METHODS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the in vitro antioxidant activity of four different fractions of Artemisia vulgaris (n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and aqueous). Our research investigated at various concentrations using two primary models: the DPPH (2.2 diphenylpicryl-hydrazyl) assay and the potassium ferricyanide reducing power assay. In comparison to other fractions, ethyl acetate and aqueous extract demonstrated superior antioxidant potential in the DPPH assay. When determining the reducing ability, as the fraction concentration increases, the reducing power also increases.
