Urban development approach towards smart cities

Abstract

Smart city has been an urban development trend along with the stormy development of the 4th scientific and technological revolution. Smart cities are expected to be able to solve big challenges of today's urban development such as pollution, urban infrastructure overload, social inequality, risks and unforeseen risks... thanks to the application of scientific advances to the process of analysis, learning for smart decision making, smart strategies-building with the most optimal and most appropriate development vision. Sustainable smart city development in Vietnam has been oriented in the Decision 950-QĐ/TTg for the period from 2018 to 2025 and also in other national policies forthe period to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The article discusses the path and approach to be able to develop from a normal city to a smart city, helping Vietnamese cities to plan a roadmap and a way towards smart city effectively.
