BUDDHISM IN PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING THE CAREER OF NGUYEN LORDS IN DANG TRONG
Abstract
In the process of expanding the southern border under the Nguyen Lords, Buddhism always played an important role in Dang Trong (Southern) society. Studying contemporary data aims to understand the policies of the Nguyen Lords towards Buddhism and the role of Buddhism in the process of establishing the career of Nguyen Lords. Thereby, it shows that Nguyen Lords were very interested in Buddhism and considered this religion as a tool of the government to expand the influence in the people, and also a diplomatic means to establish legitimacy with the Thanh Dynasty. In addition, Buddhism also contributes to consolidating immigrants with the contemporary indigenous people, creates a stable foundation for building, protecting and developing Dang Trong territory
