ASSESSMENT OF 12TH GRADERS’ MODELING COMPETENCE IN THE THEME-BASED TEACHING “FINDING THE MAXIMUM OR MINIMUM VALUE OF A FUNCTION”

Abstract

The initial part of this paper presents some fundamental concepts regarding the research purpose such as mathematics modeling competence, its structure, and assessment approaches. The methodology for constructing a modeling competence assessment scale is then presented in the second part, followed by the discussion of the overall scale for evaluating modeling competence, then the application of the scale to the theme "finding the maximum - minimum value of a function” taught in 12th grade is also reported in this paper.
