EXERCISE DESIGN FOR CHINESE IDIOMS

Abstract

 

 

Chinese idioms as a kind of idiomatic patterns are the fixed phrases which are widely used in daily life. The special society life, custom, and historic culture can be found in most of them. However, it is difficult to learn idioms in teaching Chinese as a second language as they always contain double meanings with rich emotional expressions. Undoubtedly only a minority of these fixed expressions are available in Chinese coursebooks for learners at the intermediate and advanced levels. For this reason, in order to enable the foreign students, especially Vietnamese students to understand and master the idioms, this paper discusses design principles to develop idioms exercise to help students learn and be motivated in learning.
