Abstract

CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE VENERABLE KHANH HOA TO ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW BUDDHIST EDUCATION IN VIETNAM

The Venerable Khanh Hoa, among the outstanding characters, had many important contributions to the development of the Buddhist education in Vietnam. He was the first founder of the new Buddhist education in Vietnam. He was not only a pioneer in the field of training the monk, he was also an exemplary Buddhist who was devoted to the Dharma. Despite many difficulties on the campaign to revive Buddhism, he always believed in the permanence of the Dharma to embellish the beauty of the Vietnam Buddhist painting. In the context of this article, the author would like to analyze and to present the process of building the new Buddhist education in Vietnam of the Venerable Khanh Hoa. Thereby, this article would be a useful addition to clarify his role and status in the process of reviving Buddhism in Vietnam.
