The sea in Vietnamese literature

Abstract

Throughout the Vietnamese literature history, the sea has been a source of inspiration, as well as a basic art form. In addition, the sea is an object of aesthetics, a cognitive object and also a meaningful symbol. From folk literature to writing literature, the image of the sea has brought steady features such as richness, generosity, dangers, challenges; and also presents exciting movement, development, and transformation associated with the change of people's consciousness and thoughts when talking about the sea or standing in front of it. From the perspective of literary art, the sea has been shown as an integral part of the cognition and culture of Vietnamese from the past to the future.
