The conceptual metaphor “Love is Color” in the Vietnamese language

Abstract

In the categories of emotion, love is a special field occupying an important place in our spiritual life. Love belongs to the human emotional world, which is rich and complicated. Awareness and expressions of love are not only the demands but also the sources of non-stopping inspiration. In the love cognition, a variety of tools have been used. This is a cognitive mechanism through which the logic of abstract concepts is replaced by the logic of more specific concepts. Conceptual metaphor are considered a powerful tool to help man perceive the category of love. Within the context of this scientific paper, we turn our attention to the love conceptual metaphor in which color is used as a source concept associated with the domain of love recognized in Vietnamese.
