Reality situation of green onion production in Hương Trà Town, Thừa Thiên Huế Province.

Abstract

The survey of the status of green onion production in Hương Trà Town, Thừa Thiên Huế Province shows that people in Hương Trà Town had a lot of experience in the production of green onions, the average educational level is from 7.4 to 8.5 according of the level 12/12, the average age from 52.5 to 55.7 years old, the number of people from 4.6 to 4.9 people/household, the number of famer planting green onion from 2.4 up to 3.0 people/household. The green onion varieties mainly consisted of buffalo, green onion, southern onion, F1 hybrid, mainly cultivated green onion and buffalo onion. Fertilizers used include: Urea, potassium, phosphorus, NPK, barns and compost. The average yield is 8.3 quintals/500m2, traders mainly drive to the purchasing field. Pests and diseases are mainly beet armyworm, leafminer, leaf dryness, etc. There are many types of pesticides used by households, and their efficacy is moderate from average to high. The selling price of green onions is from 15.000 to 20.000 VND/kg, the revenue from green onion production reaches from 10 to 15.5 million VND/500m2/crop.
