Biography in traditional Vietnam: In looking for the true identity.

Abstract

Through case studies among traditional Hán Nôm materials and archival documents about mornachy-colonial era (as of 1945), this research points out some unresolved questions for biographical research in Vietnam, and proposes some resolutions. Among its main topics are the understanding of Hán Nôm and French, the objectivity and honesty in studying history documents etc… are some of them. Moreover, this article also aims to announce a new view and documents towards historical persons in the past.
