REDUCING CHILD MARRIAGE AND CONSANGUINEOUS MARRIAGE IN HANOI CITY CURRENT SITUATION, SOLUTIONS

Abstract

Decision 498/QD-TTg dated April 14th, 2015 approving the Scheme “Reducing the status of child marriage and near-blood marriage in ethnic minority areas in the period of 2015 - 2025” has clearly defined the target: “By 2025, to basically prevent and repel the situation of child marriage and near-blood marriage in ethnic minority areas, contributing to improving the quality of population and human resources in ethnic minority areas”. In ethnic minority communes of Hanoi city, this issue has been paid attention and made effort to implement, so by the end of 2020, the phenomenon of near-blood marriage has disappeared, but child marriage still persists. Through analyzing the current situation of child marriage, causes and consequences of child marriage in the ethnic minority areas of Hanoi city, the article offers a number of solutions to contribute to the successful implementation of the goal of ending child marriage in Hanoi city in 2025.
