THE IMPACT OF URBANIZATION ON LIVELIHOODS AND TRADITIONAL CULTURE, LIFE STYLE OF DA NANG COASTAL PEOPLE

Abstract

The rapid and strong urbanization of Da Nang city has affected the livelihoods and culture - traditional lifestyles of Danang residents, especially the coastal areas where having high speed of urbanization occurs. Population mobility as an implication of urbanization leads to changes in livelihoods and traditional lifestyles. Besides the positive effects, the article analyzes the limitations and difficulties caused by above population displacement. For livelihoods, it is the blurred image of the fishing village, the change in the occupation of the marine residents... And the lifestyle and traditional culture, life style, it is the cultural interference from immigration and the increasing closed lifestyle. On that basis, the article discusses the opportunities and challenges to the livelihoods and traditional culture, lifestyles of coastal residents of Da Nang before the effects of urbanization.
