ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICE AND HEALTH CARE FOR ETHNIC MINORITY PEOPLE (Case study in Na Hang district, Tuyen Quang province)

Abstract

Achievements in people’s health care in Vietnam in recent years have been recorded significantly in many areas such as: Improving the quality of health services, improving the satisfaction index for health care at hospital routes, increasing the percentage of people owning health insurance, increasing life expectancy and the rate of maternal and child death under 1 year of age decreased significantly. Vietnam’s efforts to protect the public health of the health system are also reflected in the effective prevention of Covid epidemic in the recent time. However, the reality shows that the development of the health system is uneven, there are still regions, especially ethnic minorities area still has difficulties in accessing and using health services, there are differences between population groups and several ethnic groups.
The case in Na Hang district, Tuyen Quang province is a typical case; some customs, habits and cultures of ethnic minority people have created barriers that prevent them from fully accessing basic health services. Therefore, in addition to the solutions from the health side, there is a need for approach solutions from the cultural and social perspective to propagate and create favorable conditions for people to confidently and often access health services.
