SOCIO - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BAC AI DISTRICT AFTER 20 YEARS RE-ESTABLISHED ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROBLEMS RAISED

Abstract

Bac Ai district in Ninh Thuan Province was established in October 1950 and was re-established in accordance with Decree No. 65/2000/ND-CP, November 6, 2000 of the Government and officially put into operation from January 1, 2001 on the basis of adjusting the administrative boundaries of Ninh Son district; is one of 64 poor districts according to Resolution 30a of the Government. 20 years ago, when the district was re-established, the life of ethnic minorities still faced many difficulties, the production was mainly based on agriculture; handicraft industry, trade and service are still small, fragmented and lacking in infrastructure. With the attention and support of the Party, the State, the drastic direction of the local government, the striving efforts of ethnic minorities, up to now, Bac Ai has had a clear change: Socio -economic development, cultural life of ethnic minorities has been raised, infrastructure is invested and developed. However, compared to other localities in Ninh Thuan province, Bac Ai still faces many difficulties and the development is not commensurate with the potential of the district. Therefore, in the coming time, Bac Ai needs to continue promoting internal resources to change livelihoods for the people, promote combination of bringing Bac Ai step by step to sustainable development.
