THE CHAM PEOPLE IN THE SOUTHERN REGION IN PRESENT CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Cham people in the Southern region have about 30,000 people living in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Tra Vinh, Kien Giang and An Giang. Most of the Cham people in this region follow the Islamic religion, continue to preserve the traditional values, and at the same time absorb new cultural values, contributing to the unity in diversity of Cham culture and Vietnamese ethnic culture. In the Southern, the living space is not quite similar to the Cham ethnic people in the Central region and South Central region, has been formed specific Cham cultural values of Southern   Understanding the cultural adaptability and creativity of the Cham community in the Southern to have an appropriate maintenance and development strategy is essential in the context of Vietnam's integration and development today.
