Seroprevalence of Mycoplasma synoviae in chickens from some Northern provinces of Viet Nam

Abstract

The study was conducted in Bac Ninh, Phu Tho and Hai Duong provinces. The results of testing 2,229 chicken serum samples at 48 farms showed that there were 1,587 positive samples with M. synoviae, accounting for 71.20%; in which the highest rate (77.35%) was in Bac Ninh province, followed by Hai Duong (75.21%), and Phu Tho (60.37%). The tested result also showed that all of 48 chicken farms were positive with M. synoviae, the positive rate ranged from 3.33 to 100%. The chickens of all age groups were infected with M. synoviae, the infection rate increased gradually by chicken age, the highest infection rate was in the chicken group over 20 weeks old (80.58%), the lowest infection rate was in the chicken group at 0-3 weeks old (27.69%).
