Abstract

Realtime-PCR was used to test 522 pig blood and internal organ samples collected at the slaughterhouses in Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Thua Thien-Hue provinces to monitor and evaluate the prevalence of ASFV in these provinces. The studied results showed that the prevalence of ASFV in Nghe An province ranged from 0 - 20.69%. In Thua Thien-Hue province, the prevalence of
ASFV fluctuated by the months. In July, the rate of positive sample was 1.72%, in August, this rate increased up to 8.62%, but in September the positive sample rate was lower (3.45%). The studied result also showed that the positive sample rate with ASFV in two sample types (blood and internal
organ samples) was not different, 12/282 blood samples, 11/240 internal organ samples in the studied areas were positive. However, the positive sample rate with ASFV of the specimens collecting from the pigs with clear origin and without clear origin was 1.43% and 10.34%, respectively. The positive sample rate detecting in the slaughterhouses was different, of which 3/4 of slaughterhouses in Nghe An province and 4/4 of slaughterhouses in Thua Thien-Hue province were found to have circulation of ASFV. The prevalence of ASFV in the pig slaughterhouses in Ha Tinh province was not found.
