Abstract

Classical swine fever virus, C strain was adapted on PK15 cell line at Hanvet Company. The biological characteristics of cell-adapted virus showed that its identity and purity met the required standards. The growth kinetic of virus was very stable, the highest viral titer was 106.5 TCID50/ml at 72h post-infection. The cell-adapted virus retained the ability to induce fever in the experimental rabbits; the minimum infective dose in the experimental rabbits was 10-5/ml. The pigs were safe when inoculation with dose of 106.5 TCID50/pig. The inoculated pigs with 101; 102; 103 and 104 TCID50 of cell-adapted virus induced good immune response and they were completely protected when challenging with 103 MLD50 virulent CSFV.
