Surveillance on prevalence of A/H5NX virus at live poultry markets and slaughter sites in Northern central region

Abstract

rkets and slaughter sites in 4 provinces (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Bình) in the Northern Central region in April - June 2017 for determining the prevalence of avian influenza A virus. The studied result showed that there were 48 positive samples with influenza type A virus out of 240 samples, accounting for 20.00 % and this virus presented in all studied provinces. There were 12/240 (5.00%) positive samples with subtype H5 virus, distributing in the poultry wholesale markets in Thanh Hoa province. There was not positive samples with influenza subtype H5 virus presenting in other provinces. There were 8 positive samples with influenza subtype N1 virus detected, accounting for 3.33%, distributing in all three kinds of samples, of which, there were 4 positive samples out of 24 samples collecting from chickens (accounting for 16.67%), 2 positive samples out of 16 samples collecting from ducks, accounting for 12.50%, and 2 positive samples out of 20 samples collecting from environment, accounting for 10.00%.
