The efficiency of Prostaglandin F2α in treatment of delayed oestrus in Bac Ha and H’mong coc bitches

Abstract

Delayed oestrus is a common reproductive disorder causing direct influence to the reproduction of
bitches. The study was conducted at a breeding dog farm in Ba Vi district, Ha Noi from August to December
2017 with the aim to determine the efficiency of Prostaglandin F2α injection in treating the reproductive
disorder in Bac Ha and H’mong coc bitches. All the side effects after injection of the hormone were
monitored and recorded. In a total of 67 cases, there were 28 cases (41.79%) diagnosed to be suffered
with delayed oestrus. Of which, 21 cases were treated with prostaglandin F2α. Consequently, there were
14 heat cases (66.67%) detected. The clinical signs of bitches after injection of hormone were observed,
including hyperpnoea, restlessness, salivation, vomiting, uncontrol urination and defecation.
