Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the distribution and influential factors to the prevalence
of Prosthogonimus sp in the duck flock raising in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces.
Autopsy method was applied for 960 ducks to test the Fabricius and oviduct. As a result, the
average infection rate of ducks with Prosthogonimus sp was 30.41%; there was no significant
difference of the infection rate of ducks in the three provinces. The infection rate was depended
on the duck age groups, the lowest infection rate was at the age group ≤ 8 weeks old, followed
by age groups from 9-24 weeks old and > 24 weeks old. The infection rate of ducks raising in the
plain area was 36.25%, It was higher than that in the mountainous area (24.58%). The infection
rate in the rainy season (38.33%) was significantly higher than that in the dry season (22.8%).
The infection rate of duck raising in the semi-outdoor and indoor raising systems was 21.97% and
38.96%, respectively (P<0.05). There was no significant difference of the infection rate between
the egg laying duck breed and the meat raising duck breed (p>0.05)
