Abstract

The objective of this study aimed at evaluating the effect of green tea on the development of oocysts in chicken that infected with Eimeria spp (103oocysts/individual). 21 chickens at 1 day old were divided into 3 groups, including the control group (ĐC), the infected group (GN1) with-out treatment (GN1), the infected group (GN2), with treatment and by green tea. After inoculation of oocysts in the chickens, the fecal samples of each chicken group were collected and examined to determine the number of oocyst. The tested result showed that oocysts appeared in the feces of the chickens in GN1on the 2nd day after infection. The number of oocyst reached to maximum level (491 × 102) on the 4th day in this chicken group. Meanwhile, the number of oocysts in GN2 were 290 × 102 oocyst, reduced 40%, in comparison with GN1. This means that green tea can be used to inhibite the development of eimeria oocysts in chicken.
